Celebrating his 87th birthday on August 22, Bradbury continues to blaze new trails and collect new honors. In April he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation "...for his distinguished, prolific and deeply influential career as an unmatched author of science fiction and fantasy." His latest hardcover, NOW AND FOREVER, , was released in September. And, of course, Fahrenheit 451 (1955) is front and center during this week's Banned Books Week activities. (If you've never read Fahrenheit 451, now is the time -- reminds each of us how precious is the gift of freedom to read in our country.)
(One of my favorite Bradbury's is SWITCH ON THE NIGHT (1955), written for the juvenile market but wonderful reading for kids of all ages. mlg)
